Is the Home Theather Doomed?

July 7, 2013 10:23:29.293

In an article about audio formats - and why the convenience of mp3 has killed alternative formats (as mass consumption options), Engadget's Brad Hill asks a question that I hadn't really considered - is the home theatear on a long glideway towards doom?

And with the rise of movie-surfing on tablets (mobility rules again), what is the future of home theater? Is today's living room oasis the desktop computer of 2020?

If so, Microsoft is going to be very disappointed in the direction they've been taking the XBox....

Is Microsoft Downgrading the XBox Business?

July 2, 2013 12:06:48.751

Either this move is a stopgap, or MS is seriously downgrading the XBox business within the company:

Whether Microsoft realizes that or not, it seems they aren’t in any rush to hire someone new or promote an existing Xbox team member. In fact, Don Mattrick is being replaced, but not by a games person. Instead, Steve Ballmer will be taking on his role and handling all communication with the rest of the Xbox management team.

From a revenue perspective at MS, XBox is tiny - so just how much time would anyone expect the CEO to spend on it? This doesn't bode well for the future of the platform....
