To celebrate Earth Hour, I intend to turn on my lights - because celebrating the emergence from darkness makes a lot more sense than the idea behind it does.

turning out the lights is the symbol of emergence from the darkness and hybris of the energy hungry human society. Turn down energy consumption, turn on clean energy production. There is no alternative.

Sure there is. The enviros want lower standards of living and a return to bleakness. I, on the other hand, celebrate progress. With 100 watt incandescent bulbs, I might add.

I don't go for the kind of religious "end times" nonsense that the enviro movement is so fond of. I do see a massive fiscal crisis headed our way, but that has nothing to do with the stupid ideas of the enviro movement.
