Paging Roland Emmerich

August 29, 2010 9:53:05.293

Looks like we'll need some 'splosions' in 2012:

Astronomers are predicting that a massive solar storm, much bigger in potential than the one that caused spectacular light shows on Earth earlier this month, is to strike our planet in 2012 with a force of 100 million hydrogen bombs

Now all we need is a few people with "The End is Nigh" signs :)

to anonymous: your comment is not funny but a sign of ignorance

Dude, it's a humor post :)

... which I realized as you can see from my comment. Yet the "humor" is to blame a solar storm to the Earth's climate. IOW something absurd. So, anonymous is making fun of the people who care about the Earth's climate and the people who are already suffering today from the disasters due to global warming. That isn't humor. That is ignoring the facts, i. e. ignorance.

Disasters have always been with us, and climate is always changing. I call it human hubris to believe that we can "kill the planet"

HKN, no, I was not making fun of "people who care about the Earth's climate". I was making fun of people who blame every weather change, every heat wave, everything out of the ordinary on Global Warming (which, last year, was shown to be a hoax. If it was true, why would all the GW scientists be hiding their data?)

And I disagree with James *slightly* - I think we CAN kill the planet, or at least make it inhospitable for humans. But turning on the A/C in my house is not going to do it.
