I always found it strange that the console market has always been dominated by 3 manufacturers.
SteamOS is based on Linux, will be open source and free and will run all available steam games. Looks too good to be true, but I trust Valve, they have created a nice experience with steam. They definitely know how to do this properly.

Well, it remains to be seen how many existing Steam games will run natively on the box - they were talking about streaming non-Linux capable games from an existing Windows/Mac machine.
