The other thing you can do is Ctrl Right Click on the app, select 'Open' and will then get a slightly different dialogue box which will enable you to run it.

Hi James,
you can obtain the same behavior without changing the global setting.
Just right click on the icon and choose open, an alert advise you that if you choose to open the app you override the security only for that app, press ok and presto your app starts.
I had the same problem with the last Pharo and Cog VMs.
