Welcome to episode 36 of "Thu'umcast" - a podcast where Michael Lucas-Smith, Scott Dirk, Austin Haley, Makahlua and I document our trials and tribulations in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Michael, Scott, Maki, and James are back (part 2 - get part one here) to talk about Dragon Born now that it's out for PC. We all like this expansion a lot - and Maki helps tie in the old Morrowind lore to what we're seeing in Solstheim. We went long, so this is split into two parts. This is part 2.

If you liked our work on That Podcast, you'll probably like this. We intend to stay with the same idea - a gameplay podcast. If you don't want spoilers, don't listen - we are going to be talking about how we play the game, and what we ran across as we played.

Welcome to episode 33 of "Thu'umcast" - a podcast where Michael Lucas-Smith, Scott Dirk, Austin Haley, Makahlua and I document our trials and tribulations in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Today's episode with James, Austin, and Chris goes into Dragonborn - the new DLC for Skyrim. The short answer s - we like it a lot. There's lots to talk about, including the all too common Skyrim quest glitches.

If you liked our work on That Podcast, you'll probably like this. We intend to stay with the same idea - a gameplay podcast. If you don't want spoilers, don't listen - we are going to be talking about how we play the game, and what we ran across as we played.

Welcome to episode 26 of "Thu'umcast" - a podcast where Michael Lucas-Smith, Scott Dirk, Austin Haley, Makahlua and I document our trials and tribulations in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Today's episode doesn't have much to do with Dawnguard - Michael Lucas-Smith and James Robertson instead turned to mods (and to a small extent, to the Dawnguard XBox exclusive). What's covered is the mods we have installed, and what they add to our Skyrim experience. That conversation took long enough that this was split into two pieces. This is part 2 - if you missed part 1, you should start there.

If you liked our work on That Podcast, you'll probably like this. We intend to stay with the same idea - a gameplay podcast. If you don't want spoilers, don't listen - we are going to be talking about how we play the game, and what we ran across as we played.

Today's episode goes back into Dawnguard - Austin, Chris, and James pretty much wrap things up on the Dawnguard side of things. We discussed the Werewolf perks, the Werewolf totems, the "Lost to the Ages" quest, and general gameplay stuff - including how much fun it is to turn into a Werewolf and just run off on a rampage. Still no luck finding a Legendary Dragon though - none of us has seen one yet.

Dawnguard has shipped (at least on the XBox) - and we're back to talk about how we're playing. We are joined by guest host Chris Grundtner - Austin and James are the only members of the regular cast who play on the XBox. All three of us have started out on the Dawnguard path, so that's what we talk about here. We'll be back soon with another episode - we'll have lots more to say about this as we play more!

We're back, and we talk about three things: the Dawnguard DLC that just had a teaser trailer released, the Elder Scrolls MMO that's been talked up, and the stuff going on with the Skyrim Steam Workshop

If you liked our work on That Podcast, you'll probably like this. We intend to stay with the same idea - a gameplay podcast. If you don't want spoilers, don't listen - we are going to be talking about how we play the game, and what we ran across as we played.

Welcome to episode 20 of "Thu'umcast" - a podcast where Michael Lucas-Smith, Scott Dirk, Austin Haley, Makahlua and I document our trials and tribulations in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The perk system is one of the coolest parts of Skyrim, and in this episode we start talking about them - focusing on the "warrior" perks. We'll get to the rest of them in future shows. We also touch on the just released 1.4 patch, and the much anticipated Creation Kit. While we discussed the perks, we referred to the awesome Skyrim Perk Calculator site. Check it out before you start your next playthrough!

If you liked our work on That Podcast, you'll probably like this. We intend to stay with the same idea - a gameplay podcast. If you don't want spoilers, don't listen - we are going to be talking about how we play the game, and what we ran across as we played.

The Bethesda/Interplay lawsuit came to a close recently, so we talked a bit about that (seeing as how we are all Fallout fans as well). We then moved on to the College of Winterhold. While we talked about that quest line a bit in the early podcasts, we never really went into depth - so today we give it the full treatment.

If you don't want spoilers, don't listen - we are going to be talking about how we play the game, and what we ran across as we played.

Welcome to episode 11 of "Thu'umcast" - a podcast where Michael Lucas-Smith, Scott Dirk, Austin Haley, Makahlua and I document our trials and tribulations in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Thieves Guild quest line looks like the longest one in the game - we talk about that, the Dark Brotherhood quests, and how patch 1.3 doesn't seem to have completely fixed dragons yet. Also, check out Austin's new website.

If you don't want spoilers, don't listen - we are going to be talking about how we play the game, and what we ran across as we played.

Today we speculate about the eventual DLC, gripe a bit about the perk/leveling system, and cover a fascinating quest glitch involving a dremora, the stormcloak guards in Whiterun (after the end of the civil war, obviously), and The Companions. Hot tip: don't summon a Dremora in Whiterun to "help" fight a dragon :)

You mentioned that you wanted to hear from PS3 players about how broken Skyrim is... I'm about level 36 as an archer on the PS3. All the negative talk is mostly hype, it's completely playable. There are some glitches that are interesting, but don't really affect anything, like dragons occasionally flying backwards. The framerates are generally pretty good since the 1.2 patch, but it does stutter at times... not enough to really be a problem though. There are also a fair amount of texture pops, especially when in a field with a lot of foliage and plants and a foggy mountain or two in the background. Like the other bits I mentioned, it's not enough of an issue to worry about.

The one major issue I've had is that it crashes fairly frequently (maybe once every two or three hours) when loading new areas after fast travel or opening a door. The load screen comes up with some of the smoke on the bottom of the screen, then it just freezes and a hard reset is required... needless to say, this encourages frequent saving. :S

The worst part of this is that when the PS3 is rebooted it will sometimes say that a crash was bad enough that it needs to check the file system. I have a 500 Gb drive, so that takes a LONG time. :( This is the only game I've ever had that caused this and I was fairly freaked out the first time I saw the message (it's not at all reassuring). Maybe it's an extra feature of the new 4.0 update on the PS3, or may no other game has crashed as "badly" as Skyrim before now. I'm not sure which, but it's a pretty major pain and it's one of the things I hope Bethesda addresses really quickly.

Anyway, keep up the 'cast and go kill some dragons!
