Airprint is Underwhelming
I have to say, I'm not impressed with the new Airprint feature. My wife was looking forward to being able to print from her iPad - we have a 2 year old WiFi enabled printer (HP), so we thought it looked positive. Well... not so much. Get a load out of the tiny list of printers that are supported:
There's a PrinterShare app for the iPad and iPhone that works with the Wifi enabled printer - you would think that Apple would have figured that out as well. Nope - looks like the only people who can use Airprint are the ones who just bought a printer, and happened to buy the right one.

No you think HP slipped a few 10's of million to Apple to make that happen. What are the odds?

Support for any Mac OS X shared printer was available up until the official release of 10.6.5, but was then (temporarily?) removed. The functionality can be very easily restored as discussed here <[link 1]insider.com/articles/10/11/11/inside_airprint_how_to_add_ios_printer_sharing_back_to_mac_os_x.HTML> and elsewhere. Continues to work great from iPad and iPhone to Xerox 6280 and 6300 for me.

Couldn't agree more, after all the press the Airprint is next to useless !!!
I too have the Xerox 6280, but if I have to have my Mac on all the time to share the printer why bother with the ipad?
No mention of the restrictions in the Apple presentations, typical Apple...
