What Not to Do in Your Hotel Room

July 16, 2010 3:07:40.775

After going to bed last night, I flipped off what I thought was the light switch. Sadly, I didn't notice that the switch I hit was labeled "Room" - so I turned off everything. I woke up to find that my MBP was hibernating and on reserve power (with the terrible bandwidth, I started a download before I went to sleep). Tonight, I'll have to pay a lot more attention to the switches....

I also find frequently in Europe and South America (but not the US) that I need to use my room key *within* the room to power everything up. Of course, this means I can't be charging my laptop when I'm popping down for lunch or something. Usually, by the end of the first day, I've figured out how to jimmy the slot so that it stays alive even without my key.

Unintended consequences, I guess.
